Final thoughts

This course was quite educational and since I will be taking the Photostory course in fall, I will have a strong foundation on the educational aspects of DS. Yesterday's final class was truly wonderful to see the diverse body of work that everyone has done. I absolutely loved Anh, Tatiana and Leon's projects. All three were from completely different professional fields yet there was one common thread that connected them all and that was the use of Digital Storytelling. It's amazing to see how one technology can be used in so many different ways and in various disciplines. Once I saw everyone's Digital Stories, i really felt that the value of a narrative is truly powerful. I liked Dr. Robin's idea for my DS about using different voices and languages for the 4 P's of Multicultural Education. And as I had said in one of the posts as well as yesterday, that I plan to build on this. The story was really a last minute thing for me since I was more focussed on the paper. But making the story has helped me become familiar with the software, with what is needed and what is not, and also how a narrative can actually enhance the underlying message and make it even more powerful. I am still a bit new to DS and it will probably take one more semester for me to get converted into a DS maniac. HaHa!

I just hope that some if not all of the work that we have done for this course is added to the site. Everyone found really good resources in terms of software, articles, researches, etc and it would be a good thing that subsequent batches could use all of this information. Pat on the back to everyone for all of the good work.

So there is still a lot to learn, but I'm glad that this semester is over, and a new one is starting soon, with new knowledge, new skills and new experiences.
